But the real revolution in prosthetics is promised by DARPA engineers. They managed to develop an artificial hand with 17 actuators, which are controlled directly by the human brain. To do this, it was necessary to implant a chip with two hundred electrodes into the patient’s parietal cortex, from which brain impulses are transmitted through a cable and converted into movements of the prosthesis. Now scientists are also busy developing a “wireless” version of the prosthesis.
